a brief interruption
This morning I discovered when I arrived at work around 7 AM that our web site was unavailable-- to be specific, our web hosting company did not renew our domain name registration. After furious e-mails by me involving words like "unacceptable" and "contract termination" and a customer support chat between Rob and our host, our web site was up and running again around 10 this morning. When the site returned I happily browsed and looked at pictures of our family and friends. When Rob and I first registered our domain name and began to post photos online of our preparation for Ally's arrival, we expected that the web site was for everyone else-- all the friends and family members who could not see us regularly and who may enjoy keeping up with our blundering attempts at child care. Now I see though that our web site is as much for us as anyone else because it helps us feel connected to each other when we are separated. Seeing Allison smile, or sneeze bananas, or chew on her toothbrush makes our days brighter in a way I could not have imagined before her arrival.
