the push

Every semester has that moment when the feeling of having everything under control slips away. The deadline for the semester project looms. Reading and homework assignments lengthen. Sleep decreases, the lawn becomes unkempt. Perhaps the greatest challenge during these periods though is not the school work itself, but the life that must continue despite the school work. I remember the luxury of focus enjoyed by a full time student, and know this way of life is more like triage. Which is more important: turning in an assignment on time or mowing the lawn and picking up leaves? A haircut or Christmas shopping? Playing with Allison or trying to get that darn project to compile? So you compromise, and make do, and eat pizza, and order everything you need from Amazon.
