a little whine with dinner

On Thursday we'll have a lovely post for our loyal readers on things for which we are thankful this year. There are a lot. But to keep the universe in balance, here's some things for which we aren't thankful. Today our hot water heater pooped out on us for at least the third time in three years. It seems to accumulate soot and become clogged, which requires a visit by a friendly plumber and about $150, though perhaps tomorrow when the plumber arrives we'll get to pay extra since it is almost Thanksgiving. Our refrigerator required service twice this fall. There are two puddles in our basement that appear when there is heavy rain, one of which was fixed about a year and a half ago by the builder and the second of which appeared for the first time last week. This time, the builder hasn't returned our calls. Our gutters are clogged again despite the fact that we have no trees on our property. We are almost out of cat food and cat litter. Today I went to the food store to buy pumpkin pie ingredients and was dismayed to see the empty area where ready-to-unroll pie crusts should be. Oh, and I spilled about 2 ounces of expressed milk on the floor tonight while making bottles for daycare tomorrow. And I don't have any hot water to do dishes. So, boooo.
