down the slippery slope

Ok, we did it. Mission accomplished, baby fed! We gave Allison cereal twice today, once in the morning and once in the evening. We used some snazzy Earth's Best rice cereal to alleviate my guilt for not making homemade cereal and mixed it with milk to make it palatable. Allison seemed quite thrilled and even managed to swallow most of the food. Things became messy though when she put her hands in her mouth, and she seems to suck the spoon. The second feeding was surprising because she already seemed to have learned-- she no longer put her hand in her mouth, she kept more of the food in, and she even squealed when we fed her too slowly.

  • Don’t worry. To paraphrase our Pediatrician. “Your baby is still getting most of her nutrition from the milk (breast or formula). This is just a time to have fun and bring a new experience to her life.” Just look it didn’t kill either of our kids, and they turned out fine, or near enough that you cann't tell most of the time.

  • Woo Hoo! You did it! Sounds like Ally enjoyed this new experience, too. What a big girl. I just want to kiss all over those sweet little cheeks--can't wait to see her in a few more weeks!
